Finding the Percent of a Number

Good Morning my friends!!! My friend asked me, " How can i help my child with math"? She said she wanted some help online which will be helpful to the child. This brought me some good traffic and i decided to help children online by posting some good topics on math. This is my experience which i wanted to share. Each day i come up with different topics which are helpful to you guys. I chose who to find the Percent of a Number or how to figure percentages.

In order to understand how to find the percent of a number, we need to understand what percent means and how to convert them to decimals or fractions. Lets discuss on what is a percent or percentage?

Percent:- Every given number or amount in every hundred is called as percent. The symbol for percent is %. It can be represented as a fraction of 100. Percentage is used to find out how large or small quantity is, compared to the other quantity. Now lets learn about how to find the percent of a number.

The denominator of a fraction or ratio of a percentage is 100. There are a few steps which are determined to find the percent of a number they are:-

• We need to multiply the number by the percent
• Divide the answer by 100

Example Find 20% of 80 here use the steps mentioned above.
80*20=1600 (we need to move the decimal point two places towards the left)
1600/100= 16 (16.00)
